A decisão do Congresso paraguaio que consumou o impeachment do presidente Fernando Lugo foi legítima e constitucional.
A Suprema Corte, provocada pela defesa do ex-mandatário, validou todos os procedimentos adotados de forma autônoma e transparente pelo parlamento. Qualquer contestação ao itinerário trilhado afronta a soberania do Paraguai.
A movimentação canhestra que o governo brasileiro orquestrou, sob a batuta argentina, venezuelana e de outros maestros menores, ao longo da crise instalada no Palácio de los López, foi a primeira nota de uma partitura mal executada pela diplomacia da Casa de Rio Branco.
Em acordes seguintes e ostensivamente dissonantes, fizemos coro ao equívoco de impor sanções à nação vizinha. Talvez se explique tamanha desatenção diante de um cenário estratégico tão próximo o fato de a nossa política externa direcionar o seu complacente olhar para apoiar Bashar al-Assad, na Síria, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, no Irã, e outros controversos governantes pouco afeitos à democracia. Essa cegueira diplomática é inaceitável.
Não podemos rechaçar a legitimidade do processo que culminou com o afastamento de Lugo embasados em juízo de valor sobre o conjunto de normas jurídicas vigentes no Paraguai. A celeridade do rito aplicado pelo Legislativo está consagrada na Constituição do país.

O meu entendimento, com a chancela do PSDB, de apoio e respeito ao novo governo se ampliou em uma recente visita ao meu gabinete de uma comitiva de parlamentares paraguaios.
