247 - President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva took to social media on Friday morning (7) to celebrate the approval, in two rounds, of the text-base of the tax reform. According to him, this is a "historical moment," and it is necessary to congratulate the Chamber of Deputies and the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad.

"Brazil will have its first tax reform in the democratic period. A historic moment and a great victory for the country. Congratulations to the Chamber of Deputies for the significant approval yesterday and to Minister @Haddad_Fernando for the commitment to dialogue and progress in the reform. We are working towards a better future for all. Good morning!" wrote the President on his Twitter account.

The approval of the measure, which will be sent to the Senate after the completion of the analysis of amendments in the second round, is a historic first step after decades of discussion on the topic in Congress. The approval of the bill is not only a victory for the government, which considers it a priority, but also for the President of the Chamber, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), who embraced the proposal and actively worked for its approval.

Deputies approved the text-base of the proposal in the second round with 375 votes in favor and 113 against, and rejected the first amendment that could change the text of the rapporteur, Aguinaldo Ribeiro (PP-PB), according to Agência Câmara Notícias. The analysis of the amendments resumed at 10 am on Friday.
