IMF: Brazil to Become the 9th Largest Economy in the World in 2023
According to projections from the International Monetary Fund, the country, currently under the administration of President Lula, may become the 8th largest economic power in 2026.
247 - Brazil is expected to return to the ranking of the world's top ten largest economies in 2023 and finish the year in 9th place, according to estimates from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The monetary institution predicts a 3.1% increase in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) this year, up from the previous forecast of 2.1%.
According to the IMF's projections, Brazil could become the 8th largest economy by 2026. The organization's calculations suggest that Brazil's GDP will surpass that of Italy and reach $2.476 trillion. Indications are that the country will maintain this position until 2028.
Brazil dropped out of the top 10 in 2020 and, last year, ranked 11th, as reported in statistics released on Monday (October 16) by the Uol news portal. The top five largest economies, in order, are the United States, China, Germany, Japan, and India.
