Zelensky was invited to Lula's inauguration but decided not to attend
247 - The President of Ukraine has once again lied, claiming that he was not invited to the inauguration of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva earlier this year.
In Argentina for the inauguration of the far-right Javier Milei, Zelensky said during a press conference that he went to Argentina because Milei invited him, while Lula did not do the same.
Zelensky was invited to Lula's inauguration but decided not to attend, sending Ukraine's Vice Prime Minister, Iryna Verenshchuc, instead. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs sends invitations to countries with which Brazil maintains diplomatic relations, such as Ukraine. However, Zelensky has been avoiding meetings with Lula, having rejected a meeting on the sidelines of the G7 in May.
